The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its nationwide constituency executive elections, marking a key phase in the party’s internal reorganisation ahead of future electoral contests.

According to a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the nomination process commenced on Tuesday, June 23, and is expected to close on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The statement explained that the constituency executive elections will be conducted through Constituency Delegates Conferences in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.

To ensure a smooth and transparent process, the party has established Constituency Elections Committees (CECs) across the country to oversee nominations, vetting and the eventual elections.

The constituency executive elections are scheduled to take place in July 2026, although the exact dates are expected to be announced after the completion of the nomination and vetting processes.

The NPP indicated that at least one-third of delegates must be present to constitute a quorum for the elections.

The exercise forms part of the party’s broader efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures and prepare for its next National Delegates Conference, as well as future national elections.

Successful candidates will occupy various constituency-level positions, including Chairman, First Vice-Chairman, Second Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Organiser, Treasurer, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Coordinator, Communications Officer, Research Officer and Electoral Affairs Officer.

The party outlined a number of requirements prospective candidates must meet before contesting.

According to the statement, aspirants must be registered members of the party within the constituency they seek to represent, be members in good standing and have actively participated in party activities for a minimum of two years.

Additionally, candidates seeking election to the positions of Constituency Secretary, Research Officer and Electoral Affairs Officer must possess at least a diploma qualification.

The NPP further stated that members serving on the Constituency Elections Committees would be ineligible to contest any position unless they formally resign and are replaced before filing their nominations.

The party has also announced nomination fees for the various positions.

Aspirants seeking the position of Constituency Chairman will be required to pay a nomination fee of GH¢1,500.

Candidates contesting for First and Second Vice-Chairman positions will pay GH¢1,000 each, while aspirants for all other positions will pay GH¢500.
