Stop Your Bogus Commentary Against IGP Tenure Extension - Krobo NDC tells Akwatia NDC MP

The executives described the MP’s remarks as “baseless and misleading,” insisting that the party has never opposed the extension of the IGP’s term of office.

The group expressed surprise that Mr Baidoo would make such allegations, especially given the IGP’s supervision of what they described as one of the “most peaceful and calm by-elections” in recent years, the very election that secured the MP’s victory.

“It is shocking that the MP would peddle such claims,” the statement read, questioning why he would attempt to misrepresent the party’s position on the matter.

The NDC executives outlined several achievements under IGP Yohuno’s leadership, applauding what they described as a renewed sense of professionalism and efficiency within the Ghana Police Service. These include:• Empowering police officers at various levels to respond swiftly and decisively to crime• Strengthening transparency through the visible work of regional police PROs• Building public trust by taking prompt action against officers implicated in viral misconduct videos• Sustaining strong crime-fighting operations despite logistical challenges

They asserted that these advancements have significantly improved security outcomes nationwide.

The statement questioned the motive behind Mr Baidoo’s comments, suggesting the remarks could be an attempt to sow disunity or undermine the party’s leadership.

They also criticised the MP for failing to acknowledge the IGP’s role in ensuring a peaceful electoral process that ultimately led to his successful bid for Parliament.

The executives called on the Akwatia MP to retract his comments and issue an unqualified apology, describing his statements as unhelpful and inconsistent with the facts.

They reaffirmed their full support for IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno’s continued leadership, emphasising confidence in his commitment to maintaining law and order.
