The Communications Director for the 2024 Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracle Aboagye, has disclosed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently undergoing a comprehensive restructuring process aimed at strengthening the party’s internal structures and preparing it for future success.
Speaking on Joy News’ AM Show, Mr. Aboagye emphasized that the party is in a rebuilding phase, where deliberate actions are being taken to reposition the NPP. He cautioned party members against discussing internal matters in the public domain, stating that such actions are counterproductive to the ongoing efforts.
“We’ve engaged with those involved and reminded them that, yes, you may have slipped, but for now, we need to hold our horses. And I believe that’s the approach everyone should take,” Mr. Aboagye said.
He acknowledged that as a large political organization, the NPP is not immune to internal challenges and occasional setbacks. However, he stressed that what matters most is the party’s ability to learn from such experiences and move forward in unity.
“It’s fine for that to happen. From time to time, people will slip, and that’s okay. What’s important is that we learn and move forward,” he noted.
Mr. Aboagye also questioned the usefulness of airing internal party issues on national television, especially during a time when the public is more interested in solutions to pressing national challenges.
“Why should we be discussing what happened within our party or how our campaign went on television? How does that benefit the viewer?” he queried. “The viewers are more interested in the alternatives we are offering as a political party, whether it’s in addressing economic issues, healthcare, or education.”
Reiterating the importance of focusing on national development, he urged party communicators and members to concentrate on presenting practical policy alternatives that directly impact the lives of Ghanaians.
“At the end of the day, the public wants to know what alternatives we can bring to the table to address the issues they face, not the internal struggles of the party,” he added.
As the NPP continues its restructuring efforts, Mr. Aboagye called for patience and unity among party members, emphasizing the need for collective support during this transitional period.
“Hold your horses for now,” he urged. “Let’s focus on rebuilding the NPP and preparing it for its future successes.”
