NPP Rallies Around Bawumia

In a statement issued on January 31 and signed by the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party formally endorsed the outcome of the contest and urged members to rally behind the newly elected candidate.

The party commended all five aspirants: Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong; for demonstrating commitment to democratic principles and what it described as maturity throughout the primary process.

The statement also expressed appreciation to the Presidential Elections Committee chaired by Joseph Osei Owusu, the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the Ghana Police Service, the media, and party delegates for ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and incident-free election.

Looking ahead to the 2028 polls, the NPP underscored the need for unity and collective effort within the party, urging supporters to close ranks behind Dr. Bawumia.

“As the contest has now concluded, the NPP calls on all members and supporters to unite, reconcile, and rally behind our elected flagbearer in the supreme interest of the Party. United in purpose, the NPP will work tirelessly to secure victory in the next general elections. The elephant is the winning symbol, and by the grace of God, we shall prevail,” the statement said.

The party’s endorsement marks the beginning of efforts to consolidate support across its ranks as preparations gradually shift toward the 2028 general elections.
