Youth members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nanton Constituency have staged a street protest calling for the immediate removal of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Abdul-Rahaman Rosina Zenabu.
The demonstration comes on the heels of a petition submitted by NDC constituency executives to President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to dismiss the DCE over alleged conduct they say is undermining party cohesion and threatening the party’s electoral performance in the constituency.
According to the petition, the DCE’s actions have created deep rifts within the party, with executives warning that her continued stay in office could weaken the NDC’s support base ahead of the 2026 elections.
Protesters echoed these concerns during the march, accusing the DCE of engaging in acts that disrespect traditional authorities and interfere with party structures.
During the demonstration, youth members carried placards with striking inscriptions, including:• “Enough of your husband takeover of Nanton DCE.”• “Regional Minister, help us save Nanton, or we’ll help you collapse Nanton.”• “Tampion and Nyoligu are the backbone of NDC, and DCE stop disrespecting our chiefs.”
