NDC blew GHS 38 million on Akwatia by-election’ — Hon. Ntim Fordjour

In a social media post on Tuesday, December 9, the Assin South MP alleged that the NDC disguised its hefty election expenditure as security-related spending, supposedly channelled through the National Security Ministry and the Ghana Police Service.

“NDC blew GHS38 million on Akwatia by-election under the pretext of security spending by National Security and the Ghana Police Service,”he wrote.

His allegations come at a time when Ghana is preparing for a re-run of the 2024 Kpandai parliamentary election, following a High Court ruling that annulled the victory of NPP MP Matthew Nyindam.The decision came after NDC candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal petitioned the court, citing irregularities during the polls.

The Kpandai re-run has already heightened tensions between the two major parties, with the NDC insisting that the by-election is necessary to restore electoral fairness.

Reacting to the court-ordered re-run, Rev. Ntim Fordjour questioned the NDC’s “eagerness” for the Kpandai contest, suggesting that the party may be motivated by the financial gains he claims they enjoyed during the Akwatia exercise.

“Could 38 million chop chop be the motivation behind their incessant greedy appetite to forcibly conduct by-election in Kpandai? Are they looking for another opportunity to blow 38 million?”he quizzed.
