Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, made the appeal after casting his vote at the St Anne’s Anglican Church polling station at Ash Town in the Manhyia South Constituency on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, he urged supporters of the various aspirants to put aside their differences once the election is concluded, stressing that internal contests must strengthen rather than divide the party.
In the lead-up to the vote, aspirants and their supporters had actively canvassed for backing, presenting their visions and attempting to persuade delegates. However, Napo emphasized that elections should be a contest of ideas and not a “war of attrition.”
“I’m hopeful the party will come out stronger after the election. The outcome will definitely make the party stronger and united ahead of other internal elections,” he said.
He described the voting process at the centre as smooth, orderly, and peaceful, encouraging all delegates nationwide to conduct themselves calmly and responsibly while strictly adhering to the rules governing the exercise.
“I encourage all party delegates to proceed to their respective polling stations to exercise their right to vote, and to do so in a calm and responsible manner,” he added.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh also commended the visible presence of security personnel at the venue and urged party members to cooperate with them to ensure a peaceful process.
A total of 649 delegates were expected to cast their ballots at the St Anne’s Anglican Church polling station, where voting was conducted under tight security.
Representatives of all five presidential aspirants were present at the centre, closely observing the process as delegates queued in an orderly manner to vote.
The atmosphere at the polling station remained calm throughout the exercise, reflecting the party’s efforts to ensure a peaceful and credible internal election.
