Kojo Oppong Nkrumah Warns Against Divisive Tactics in NPP, Dismisses Claims of Kufuor’s Marginalisation

“This attempt by some party persons to create an impression by using some of these videos, heavily edited—I challenge you to go and look at the video where they bring in the red lines to cut out what he’s saying in detail,” Oppong Nkrumah stated. “This attempt to use former leaders to pitch them against current leadership should stop.”

The former Information Minister emphasized that former President Kufuor remains actively involved in the party’s affairs and continues to be respected and consulted by the leadership.

“There’s not a single council meeting we have gone to that we have not invited former President Kufuor,” he noted, countering suggestions that the former leader has been pushed to the periphery of party decision-making.

The emergence of the edited video has raised fresh concerns about internal rifts within the NPP, particularly as the party gears up for the 2026 general elections. Analysts say such tactics could undermine unity and distract from the party’s broader electoral objectives.

Oppong Nkrumah’s remarks come at a time when both the NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are closely watching how narratives around party cohesion and legacy leadership influence voter sentiment.

In his closing remarks, the Ofoase-Ayirebi MP urged party members and supporters to exercise discipline and avoid resorting to dishonest tactics that could harm the NPP’s image and credibility.

“We must preserve the dignity of our party and its leaders, past and present. Divisive tactics like these only weaken our collective strength,” he concluded.
