He emphasised that his decision to seek a second bid at the flagbearership was not born out of personal ambition but a call to serve.“I offer myself for a second time to bear the flag of the NPP into this election, after having listened extensively to the demands of the party and the nation,” he said.

Highlighting his 16 years of active service to the party, Dr Bawumia described himself as a leader who embodies both intellectual depth and humility, in line with the legacies of Joseph Boakye (J.B.) Danquah, Kofi Abrefa Busia, Chief S.D. Dombo, John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“I have never turned my back on the party, even in difficult times. Like our forebears, I have always put the collective interest above self,” he affirmed.

Dr Bawumia’s declaration sets the tone for what is expected to be a keenly contested NPP flagbearer race ahead of the 2028 general elections.
