The Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives has issued a stern demand to the government, insisting on the immediate settlement of all outstanding salary arrears owed to its members. The group says the recent payment of just one month’s salary—after nearly a year of work, is not only insufficient but “an insult” to the entire nursing fraternity.

In a statement, the coalition confirmed that its members had received one month’s salary in November, acknowledging the payment as “a small step” that demonstrates the impact of their collective pressure. However, it emphasised that the gesture does little to alleviate the severe hardship many of the affected health workers continue to face.
