The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has assured the public that the ongoing electoral impasse in the Ablekuma North constituency will soon be resolved. Speaking at a meeting with political party leaders at the EC headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, Mrs. Mensa reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process for the 2024 general elections.

She described the 2024 elections as the best in the history of the Fourth Republic, emphasizing the EC’s dedication to conducting free and fair polls.

Addressing concerns regarding her absence at President John Dramani Mahama’s swearing-in ceremony, Mrs. Mensa explained that it is not the EC’s policy for its chairperson or deputies to attend such events unless officially invited.

“For the duration that I have been in office, I have never attended any swearing-in,” she stated at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting. She further clarified that the commission did not receive any formal invitation to the presidential or ministerial swearing-in ceremonies.
