An uncompleted school building within the premises of Accra Experimental Basic School has collapsed, trapping several people who were reportedly holding a church service at the site.

The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Monday, sending shockwaves through the area as worshippers were caught under the rubble when the structure gave way.

Eyewitnesses say the building, which was still under construction, had been converted into a makeshift place of worship at the time of the collapse.

Residents and passersby were the first to respond, rushing to the scene in a frantic effort to rescue those trapped. Some used their bare hands and basic tools to remove debris in the critical moments before emergency responders arrived.
